Pilgrimage Day 7 – Lourdes

Today we said au revoir to Paris and began the next chapter of our pilgrimage journey. Early this morning we boarded France’s high-speed train and traveled south through the beautiful French countryside toward one of the most beloved pilgrimage destinations in the world: Lourdes.

Much of the day was spent on the train, giving our pilgrims an opportunity to rest, pray, reflect, and enjoy fellowship as we journeyed together. Pilgrimages are not only about the sacred destinations we visit, but also about the time spent traveling together, allowing the Lord to work quietly in our hearts along the way.

Upon arriving in Lourdes, we immediately entered into the spiritual rhythm of this holy place. We celebrated Mass in the Chapel of Saint Gabriel, entrusting our intentions to the Lord and asking Our Lady of Lourdes to accompany us during our time here. There is something powerful about celebrating the Eucharist in a place where millions have come seeking healing, hope, and a deeper encounter with Christ.

As evening fell, we joined thousands of pilgrims from around the world for the beautiful Candlelight Marian Procession. Holding candles aloft in the darkness and singing the Ave Maria, we were reminded that Mary always leads us to her Son. The sight of countless lights moving through the sanctuary was both moving and prayerful—a powerful witness to faith and the universal nature of the Church.

Tonight, as we settle into Lourdes, we place all of our intentions, prayers, and loved ones into the hands of Our Lady, asking her to present them to Jesus. Please know that the pilgrims of Saint David Parish continue to carry you in prayer.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!
