History of Saint David Catholic School
In 1984,
Saint David Catholic School opened its doors with an enrollment of 99 students
in Pre-K through 3rd grade. Our school continued to grow each year.
In 1990, after we graduated our first 8th grade class, we became a
fully accredited Catholic School. With the inspiration of our Pastor Father
O’Reilly, the parishioners, faculty and staff of our school, we were awarded the
National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1994. Our dedicated faculty and
staff educate students to be Christian leaders, lifelong learners, and
responsible citizens. We take a personal interest in each and every child.
Catholic
education strives to educate the whole child: spiritually, emotionally,
socially, intellectually, artistically, and physically. Our curricula and
co-curricular activities are designed to instill in each student a reverence for
God and all His creation, and to affirm the rich diversity of our students,
families, teachers while building positive community involvement. We have a
proven track record educating children to become people “with and for others” in
the Christian spirit of service education. Indeed, our talented graduates have
an established record of academic success and extracurricular involvement.
At Saint
David Catholic School we create ideal conditions for learning and leadership to
flourish. Art, computer, library, music, physical education, and Spanish are
offered at every level. Subjects are departmentalized in the middle school
classes to prepare our grades 6 to 8 students for high school. All classes
participate in fieldtrips to educational and cultural destinations throughout
the Broward County area. Our after school program includes supervised daily
activities that are age appropriate for each grade level. In addition we have an
extensive athletic program as well as tutoring services that are available
through our Enhancement Program.
As partners in education, we welcome and encourage parent participation, as
there are numerous opportunities to be involved in the school. Parents are the
lifeblood of our school and we continue to work together allowing our children
to flourish, so that someday they will become the Catholic Christian leaders of
our world.
